A forty member delegation of the PCFF was received by the President of the State, Mr. Shimon Peres in the official house, as part of the effort of the organization to impact the public opinion with its message of reconciliation.
Aaron Barnea, Yaakov Guterman, Shireen Essawi and Dr. Omar Al-Alool brought the message of the group. Israeli and Palestinian families sharing the pain of bereavement found a common ground to struggle for: convincing the two peoples that reconciliation is not only possible, but it is a necessary condition to reach a durable peace in the region. Our spoke people expressed the hope of the PCFF that the forthcoming peace conference in Annapolis will succeed to make a progress in the long road to peace, and that it is ready to extend any support to the leaders to attain this goal.
Mr Peres, Nobel Peace Price (together with late leaders Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat) spoke of the moral authority of bereaved families to raise their voice. He promised all his support and encouragement to our group.
The two general directors of the group, Boaz Kitain and Khaled Abu Awwad, extended a gift to the President in remembrance of the occasion. Mr. Peres put his signature on a special ceramic bowl, part of the artistic series that is being exhibited these days in the US by the PCFF. Mr Peres added the words (in Hebrew): "from Pain to Peace" .
It was a memorable occasion and the beginning of a series of meetings with political and intellectual leaders in the region.
