LEONARD COHEN TO BENEFIT THE FUND FOR RECONCILIATION, TOLERANCE AND PEACE WITH CONCERT IN TEL AVIV

July 28, 2009. Press Release.

Leonard Cohen will perform an historic benefit concert at Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel on September 24, 2009. The concert is planned as uplifting event to honor bereaved Israeli and Palestinian parents who have experienced loss and continue to work for peace.
The planned concert has served as the impetus to form the Fund For Reconciliation, Tolerance and Peace - a vehicle to support bereaved parents and others who have suffered loss in this region but have not given up hope for peace.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on XX, XX, 2009. Information regarding ticket purchase will be forthcoming.

Leonard Cohen will donate 100% of the proceeds from the event to the Fund, which will provide financial support for organizations and individuals working in Israel and Palestine to advance the recognition and full expression of human rights in the region. AEG Live, Mr. Cohens worldwide concert promoter, is also donating 100% of their earnings from this concert to The Fund.

Amnesty International is sponsoring the formation of the Fund, of which Leonard Cohen will be the first contributor. The creators, administrators and supporters of the Fund wish to extend an invitation to the worldwide music industry to donate the proceeds of one performance during the coming year, whether in Israel or elsewhere, to the Fund.

The Fund For Reconciliation, Tolerance and Peace will direct financial grants to qualified organizations within Israel and Palestine, focusing on those whose members have suffered from the ongoing conflict. The Fund will be established as a US 501(c)3 corporation with an independent Board of Trustees. The Fund's mission is complimentary to, yet distinct from, the worldwide mission of Amnesty International, which is a key supporter in the Fund's formation and initial operations.

Initial grant recipients are The Palestinian Happy Child Centre (www.phcc-pal.org); The Parents Circle - Families Forum (www.theparentscircle.com); and Saving Children - The Peres Center For Peace (www.peres-center.org/medicineandhealthcare.html); Combatants for Peace (www.combatantsforpeace.org).

I was glad to see you at the Holon session but didn''t get a chance to say hello. (My wife and I are members of PCFF but not active lately). If there is any way I can be helpful in facilitating Robi''s idea, whatever it is, don''t hesitate to get in touch with me.
