The Gandhi Foundation’s trustees say the Forum has been guided by one of the highest Gandhian ideals – that of understanding the adversary’s point of view and finding common ground on which to base a solution. The award was presented at a ceremony chaired by Lord Parekh (centre in photo) in the House of Lords on 3rd November.

A letter sent by our dear friend, The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams:
I am delighted to learn that the Gandhi Foundation International Peace Award for 2010 has been awarded to the Parents Circle – Families Forum. This prestigious award recognizes the unstinting efforts of bereaved families on both sides of the Israeli – Palestinian conflict to strive for peaceful and constructive means to resolve differences and to respect their common humanity.
As a patron of the United Kingdom Friends of the Bereaved Families Forum, I send my warmest congratulations to Robi Damelin and Ali Abu Awwad who, as the Israeli Palestinian representatives, will receive the award on behalf of the Bereaved Families Forum at the House of Lords on 3rd November 2010.
