To our dear Japanese friends

We are all following the news about the tsunami and its devastating effects. Our hearts are bleeding watching the unending pictures of the disaster which the television is showing. The feeling of impotence vis a vis the forces of nature, the suffering of so many people, the human and physical losses, the desperation of people trying to find their beloved, all those images have reached us and deeply moved us. We see the incredible stamina, the strength of character, the tremendous creativity and ingenuity of the Japanese people facing this huge natural disaster and we are convinced that if there is anybody on our planet capable of facing a disaster of such dimensions, it is the Japanese people.

So dear friends, please receive our warmest expressions of solidarity and love in these challenging days. We know that you will overcome them and, again, show a striking example of courage and strength. Please let us know if we can be of any help.

We hope and pray that none of you have lost relatives and friends in the disaster. We indeed know the meaning of bereavement and pain.

Yours, with admiration and our best wishes for a swift recovery,

On behalf of the Forum of Bereaved Israeli and Palestinian Families for Peace and Reconciliation,

Aaron Barnea
